Kristin Velvet
Wasp Nest / Get Down Ep
Kristin Velvet – “Wasp Nest / Get Down EP” (Crosstown Rebels, CRM315). Berlin‑via‑Ibiza house architect Kristin Velvet lands her Crosstown debut with a sting in the tail: the title cut is a tense, muscular stepper—rubber bass, tight hats, and a waspish synth line built for peak‑time mischief—while “Get Down” links her with deep‑house icon Fred P whose golden‑ear touch shapes both the original and two immersive ‘Reshape’ versions. It’s a study in contrast: tough yet aerodynamic groove engineering on one side; warm, dubbed‑out depth on the other. Pressed loud on 12", the EP offers four complementary floor tools with the kind of detail and stereo play that reward proper systems and patient DJs.
